When I was little, my sister and I used to pretend to be dentists and patients, and brushing teeth quickly became one of our favorite activities. As the years went by, my passion for dentistry and my deep desire to help others led me to pursue a career in this field, just like my sister. Now, we are both dentists.
I strongly believe in the transformative power of a smile and how it has the ability to brighten someone's day. Understanding that a healthy smile starts with healthy gums, I found my true calling in the field of Periodontics. My mission is to preserve teeth whenever possible, but I am equally fascinated by the incredible potential to restore smiles through the use of dental implants.
EDUCATION
I am originally from Porto Alegre, located in the South of Brazil. In 2008, I embarked on my Dentistry career by applying to and being accepted at the prestigious Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), one of the top universities in South America. After five years of dedicated study, I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Following graduation, I began working alongside my sister in our dental practice, as well as in other private clinics in our city.
However, my passion for learning and academic pursuits led me to pursue further education. I enrolled in a Master's in Science program with a focus on Oral Pathology. In 2015, I successfully completed my master's degree and decided to embark on a Ph.D. program. During my first year as a Ph.D. student, I applied for and was awarded a federal scholarship to conduct my research project abroad.
In 2016, I relocated to the United States to carry out my research at the University of Michigan. It was during this time that I fell in love with American culture and, in particular, with an American named Trevor, who would later become my husband. This transformative experience turned a one-year abroad opportunity into a life-changing plan. After completing my Ph.D. and spending an additional two years as a Postdoctoral researcher, I made the decision to immerse myself in the field of Periodontics. I began a dual Residency and master’s program in the Graduate Periodontics program at the University of Michigan where I graduate in 2023.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
As a Brazilian, I grew up experiencing hot and humid summers and mild winters. However, living in Vermont has given me the opportunity to truly appreciate the beauty of the four seasons and explore nature. I enjoy cycling and hiking with my husband, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking landscapes.
During the cold days, baking becomes one of my favorite hobbies, allowing me to indulge in the warmth and comfort of homemade treats. Additionally, I have a deep passion for reading and continuously seek opportunities to expand my knowledge and learn something new.
